We are CIIU

The Center for Urban Information and Research - CIIU is an initiative of the College of Architects of Pichincha that promotes the dissemination of information and research on the city.

Our objective is to share knowledge and experiences in areas such as: urban-spatial planning, landscaping, climate change, territory, environment, architectural heritage, and other related disciplines.

Through our geoportal, we make available georeferenced public information and data generated by our own research and collaborations. This centralized and standardized geographic information system allows urban data to be stored, managed, and analyzed to produce reliable, up-to-date, and accessible information.

The CIIU integrates a highly comprehensive and current urban database that serves the interests of users from the public and private sectors, academic and research institutions, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

Furthermore, we foster collaborative research through strategic partnerships. We have a multidisciplinary team of experts in architecture, urban planning, geomatics, biogeography, gender studies, sociology, risk management, economics, geostatistics, data science, and other fields.

Mission

To contribute to basic and applied research, knowledge exchange, service provision, and scientific outreach; as well as to provide technical advisory services, specialized services, and continuing education programs on topics related to urban planning and territorial management, offering solutions to the challenges of sustainable urban development.

Vision

To be the leading local and national reference organization contributing to the generation and transfer of scientific knowledge in urban planning and territorial management, providing inputs that strengthen the formulation of public policies aimed at improving urban and territorial habitability through scientific research.
